6 lb Turkey on MAK 2 Star Pellet Grill
Cooking turkey on a pellet grill is an easy process anyone can do that will produce fantastic results.
Smoked turkey breast is so tasty, but it can be hard to cook at home. Having a pellet grill that you can fire up quickly is half the battle… especially when it's a spontaneous cook early in the morning. Our MAK 2 Star pellet grill uses their exclusive Pellet Boss controller that makes operating the unit a snap. A couple pushes of a button and you’re cooking in no time at all.
We took a young turkey we found at our local grocery store and seasoned it with SuckleBusters Lemon Pepper Garlic seasoning and threw it on our MAK 2 Star pellet grill.
This cook was very spontaneous as we had a thawed turkey in the fridge and were deciding whether to freeze it. Before we knew it, the turkey was seasoned and on the pellet grill, and we were back in the house finishing our first pot of coffee.

Preheating the MAK 2 Star Grill
I pressed the button to start the MAK 2 Star preheating process and immediately heard the pellets falling into the stainless-steel firepot. The auger started turning like something you would hear on a farm tractor… it's a great sound and something that is fun to listen to.
I did not time it exactly, but I went back outside around 20 minutes later and the smell of grill was awesome. There was a sweetness alongside that distinct oak smell that screamed out… let’s smoke!
Cooked the Turkey on the Upper Rack
We cooked the 6 lb young turkey on the upper rack by itself. The upper rack is nice because it allows the heat and smoke to dance around whatever you’re cooking. I like cooking larger cuts of meat on the top rack when I can because it keeps them away from the heat source and prevents drying out the meat.
We did more of a hot and fast cook to crisper up the skin which worked out perfectly. Trying to get bite through skin on any bird can be tough.
Tender, Juicy Turkey Breast
The Lemon Pepper Garlic seasoning we used really shined through. It contains large flakes of sea salt, black pepper, garlic, and natural lemon flavor. SuckleBusters uses real lemon oil and lemon powder for a salty-tart flavor… man that is good on all types of birds.
We could’ve gone a few different routes with seasoning but were craving that lemon pepper flavor which is great on chicken or any seafood. As always, SuckleBusters seasonings are all-natural, No MSG, and Gluten Free.
Final Result is a Beautiful Golden Bird with Crispy Skin
One and a half hours later the bird was golden. We used our built-in thermometer plugged into the MAK 2 Star Pellet Boss controller. We set the alarm for 165 and had the probe inserted into the middle of the breast meat.
You can set the Pellet Boss alarm to go off at a set temperature. The alarm on the MAK Grills Pellet Boss controller is very loud. You can hear this thing beeping inside your home or 200-300 ft away. Final result is tender, juicy smoked turkey breast cooked on a pellet grill.
Have the built-in temperature probes eliminates extra accessories and prevents you from overcooking and drying out the meat. Great feature!
